The EdTechTeacher Palm Springs Summit is a unique learning experience that brings together tested and practical edtech strategies for the classroom, as well as thought leaders to explore what is next in education and edtech. From iPads & Chromebooks to Project Based Learning, Gamification, Virtual Reality and Coding, the EdTechTeacher Palm Springs Summit is the ideal event to learn, connect and share.

There are three exciting strands in this year’s event, edtechNOW, edtechNEXT and edTHOUGHT. Each strand is focused on addressing a certain aspect of education and edtech. Whether you are interested in and focused on learning more about specific edtech tools and strategies or want to explore bigger ideas and approaches to edtech, the EdTechTeacher Palm Springs Summit is the ideal event. Check out sessions from different strands! Keynote and Featured Speakers

Michael Cohen Keynote Speaker

Michael Cohen, The Tech Rabbi is a designer and technologist turned educator. He is an Apple Distinguished Educator and a former Director of Education Technology, who advocates, speaks, writes, and facilitates workshops on scaling creativity and innovation. He works with schools on a local and national level to help them develop a creative mindset that can influence and empower individuals in becoming confident and passionate problem solvers. Michael shares his story of design and creativity through social media, and conferences, among them ISTE and SXSWEdu. He is the produces the “Educated By Design” Podcast and Vlog, where he shares insights, and features experts inspiring educators, students, and beyond to ideate, plan, and implement creative solutions to solving complex problems they face.

Dr. Scott McLeod Keynote Speaker

An Associate Professor of Educational Leadership at the University of Colorado Denver, Scott McLeod, J.D., Ph.D., is widely recognized as one of the nation’s leading experts on P-12 school technology leadership issues. He is the Founding Director of the UCEA Center for the Advanced Study of Technology Leadership in Education (CASTLE), the nation’s only university center dedicated to the technology needs of school administrators, and is the co-creator of the wildly popular video series, Did You Know? (Shift Happens). He also is the co-creator of the trudacot technology integration discussion protocol and the founder of both the annual Iowa 1:1 Institute and EdCampIowa, the nation’s largest EdCamp event. Dr. McLeod has worked with several hundred schools, districts, universities, and other organizations and has received numerous awards for his technology leadership work, including the 2016 Award for Outstanding Leadership from the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE).He has written 170 articles and other publications and is one of the most visible education professors in the United States.

Tom Daccord EdTechTeacher Director & Co-Founder

Tom Daccord has worked with schools, colleges and educational organizations in the United States, Canada, Europe, Asia, and the Middle East as an educational technology speaker and instructor. He has authored three books and writes regularly for eSchool News.

Justin Reich EdTechTeacher Co-Founder

Justin Reich is the co-founder of EdTechTeacher. He also currently serves as the Executive Director of the PK12 Initiative at MIT, a research scientist in the MIT Office of Digital Learning, a Lecturer in the MIT Scheller Teacher Education Program, and a Fellow at the Berkman Center for Internet and Society at Harvard University.

Greg Kulowiec Senior Instructor & Presenter

An early adopter of mobile devices, Greg first integrated cell phones, and then iPads, into his high school history curricula. As an EdTechTeacher instructor, he works with schools across the country, presents at national conferences, and blogs regularly about the creative capabilities afforded by mobile devices. He officially coined the phrase “App Smashing,” is an authorized Google Education Trainer, and attended St. Anselm college in Manchester, NH.

Avra Robinson Online Learning Director & Instructor

Avra Robinson is an authorized Google Education Trainer and dedicated educational technologist who has been working with teachers and students for over 15 years. Prior to joining EdTechTeacher, Avra was the Instructional Technology Coordinator, coach and teacher for a K-8 school district in Northern Illinois. During that time, she worked with teachers and students on a daily basis as they worked toward total Common Core State Standards integration in a 1:1 program that included Chromebooks, iPads, and Windows laptops. Avra has presented at local and regional conferences sharing ideas about digital publishing, Google Apps for Education, and more.

Don Goble Multimedia Instructor

Don Goble is an award-winning Multimedia Instructor at Ladue Horton Watkins High School in St. Louis, Missouri. Don speaks internationally at education conferences, conventions, and professional development workshops offering educators innovative ways to incorporate video, multimedia, and media literacy into the classroom. Connor Regan Be Internet Awesome

Connor serves as Program Lead on Be Internet Awesome, a new program from Google that aims to help kids be safe, confident explorers of the online world. He is passionate about technology and educational equity, and is a strong supporter of America’s public schools. Outside his role at Google, he serves on the board of Best Buddies California, an organization dedicated to building opportunity for friendship, employment, and inclusion for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Connor hails from sunny Southern California and received his Bachelors in Learning & Organizational Change from Northwestern University in much-less-sunny Chicago, Illinois.

Sue Thotz Common Sense Education

Sue Thotz is the Senior Program Manager for Common Sense Education. In 2011, Sue began working for Common Sense in Chicago by partnering with educators to help them create a culture where students use technology in a meaningful, thoughtful, and respectful way. Since moving to Los Angeles in 2014, Sue has provided educational leadership through motivating keynotes, professional development workshops, conference presentations, and consulting with districts across Southern California.

The edtechNEXT strand is also built to provide educators with a glimpse of the future of edtech that will include ideas such as Virtual Reality, Coding, Wearable Tech & Gamification.

The EdTechTeacher Summit Palm Springs will be hosted at the Palm Springs Convention Center adjacent to the beautiful Renaissance Palm Springs Hotel at the foot of the San Jacinto Mountains, close to downtown Palm Springs.
